First grade.
Courtney used to be quiet. That was before she discovered her voice!
She gave a presentation to her classmates and the principal on why she has a pacemaker. For a first grader, she did a splendid job explaining to the boys & girls in her classroom what it means to have a heart condition. She even asked if there were any questions!

Kindergardener protests!
On her first day of school, the teacher sent a note home from school.
Day 2 didn't go much better. Courtney said she didn't want to return unless they let her talk!
